the WING SWING

guidelines:

The Wing Swing!

We've decided that you girl slashers are not working hard enough - and we have just the plan to get your keyboards into action - the Wing Swing!

Based on the Trek Femme Fuh-q Fest (for anyone that's heard of it), we're going to ask you to choose a TWW girl, we'll draw another TWW girl out of the hat, and it will be up to you to work out some bizarre, slashy scenario for the two of them.

All you have to do is send your name to Christine and Teanna at wingswing@gatefiction.com and the girl you pick. We'll pull a name out of the hat (you'll have to trust us on fairness, I'm afraid - but seriously, the randomness is half the fun, so I'm not about to spoil that by allocating you names of my choice).

Sound weird? OK - well here's a few points to remember:

1. You can pick CJ as your girl. We know you all love slashing CJ so by all means pick CJ. However, we encourage you to pick someone else. To encourage diversity, CJ will not be in the draw.

2. You can pick a non-TWW character! We *love* crossovers! If you pick an outside character we will throw CJ back into the draw.

3. You can tell us if there are some characters you don't want in your draw. For whatever reason - they're too young, they remind you of your sister, etc etc - some people will just squick you in this scenario, so let us know. Naturally if you pick Abbey we will NOT be including Zoey and Ellie (and you are sick, sick people if you think we should, OK???!!!) But the aim of the game is to think laterally. We are hoping you'll rise to the challenge. There are a couple of characters who will only be in the draw for certainly characters eg. Isobel will only be in the draw for people who choose CJ, Karen Cahill will only be in the draw for Donna.

4. You can also reject your pairing. If you've thought about it for a while and you just can't do it, let us know and we'll give you another character.

5. You can have more than one pairing if you're churning 'em out like Ray Bradbury. You can also team- up with another writer.

6. They don't have to have sex! They don't even have to kiss. Just give us some innuendo if you like. Some slashy thoughts - whatever you think works. And sure - make it a laugh if you like. We like laughs.

7. All stories should be emailed to wingswing@gatefiction.com (You can post to the WWfemslash list. Be sure to write "Archive: at the wing swing" in the header.) If you email us your story, do NOT send it as an attachment. Paste it in the email, just like when you post to a list. Attachments will be deleted unread UNLESS you email us first and explain why you need to send your fic as something other than in an email. There really is no need, right? Right!

added note on archiving:
* If your story doesn't look perfect, you probably didn't save it as a plain text file before pasting it into the email. I'm sorry, but I don't have time to go through every story and fix it, so if you are unhappy with how your story looks here, you have to resubmit it.

* You may submit your story with html tags, as long as it's still pasted in the body of an email. This is good for you if you want to use italics, bold face, or maybe underline. I don't recommend you pick a fancy font (it will be hard on the eyes), and I *will not* allow anything but black text on a white background.

All stories will be archived at the Wing Swing site at http://www.gatefiction.com/wingswing
You are welcome to put them on your site as well and to post them to other lists. The deadline to go on the website is July 7.

8. Pairing status will also be posted at Teanna's site.

We'll also run a little competition after this date where you can vote for the best story and a bunch of other silly categories - but your story must be in by July 7 to be eligible.
